Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. Stress generally refers to two things: the psychological perception of pressure and the body's response to it - which involves multiple systems, from metabolism to muscles to memory- and generally takes some time for the body to calm down after the stress response has been triggered.
Perceived stress is the feelings or thoughts that an individual has about how much stress they are under at a given point in time or over a given time period. Medicine is recommended based on the individual perception of stress. Prolonged exposure to the stressor with no changes being made to their environment may result in suppression of the immune system and may cause lower levels of health and well being.
Prolonged stress may result in the possibility of altered gut bacteria, changed hormonal levels (like cortisol), cause mental health issues (like anxiety, depression). Female hormonal imbalances can cause irregular periods. Change is constantly occurring in one's life. A persons ability to deal with issues and circumstances and the way they respond to different stimuli in situations, controllable and uncontrollable are all related to stress. The feelings and emotional undertakings a person goes through can result in stress being prevalent in various forms, how a person responds the mind responds, how it is perceived is different for everyone, and hence the healing journey for stress is unique to every individual.
SO WHAT CAN BE DONE?
Perception of stress is a person’s cognizance. Perceptions can be changed and modified by thought modified processes, behavior patterns, positivity, setting goals and having a constructive direction.
